Mouth Ulcers – How To Relieve Them Naturally?

 

 

 

Mouth ulcers – we all have had them, and we know just how painful these can be. Appearing usually on the inside of our mouth, these lesions can be caused by a wide variety of factors. This includes –

  • Unhygienic dental conditions,
  • food allergies,
  • irregular bowel issues,

  • significant nutritional deficiencies
  • and hormonal changes

Various Types Of Mouth Ulcers

Mouth ulcers or the oral lesions are common and often tedious to treat, many a times these would need extensive steroid therapy or at times even surgery. However, readers would be delighted to know that there are home remedies that can cure these mouth ulcers when used in early stages.

Leucoplakia

These are raised, thick, white, grey or red patches that form on the tongue or inside your mouth. These mouth ulcers are are mainly sensitive to hot and spicy foods. For these kind of oral lesions, a natural compound called as Lycopene that can be found in tomato products, watermelon and pink grapefruit, is considered to be a fine cure.

Lichen Planus

Lichen Planus is another form of oral lesions that is seen as white patches on the lining of cheeks, tongue and gums. There is often redness or, very rarely, painful blisters. Regular application of turmeric paste can make these lesions to disappear and relieve the discomfort that these lesions could be causing.

Candidiasis

Also known as oral thrush, this is a fungal infection of the mouth caused as a side effect of steroids and oral contraceptives. Eating 2-3 crushed garlic cloves a day, regular application of coconut oil and yogurt drinks can effectively make the lesions wane off.

Herpetic Lesions

Another form of oral lesions are the Herpetic lesions which can be treated with application of olive oil mixed with lavender oil and beeswax, tea tree oil. Or you may use Echinacea tea bag and lemon balm application to the infected areas.

Aphthous Ulcers

These are mysteriously appearing oral lesions which are quite painful. These can be cured by application of eucalyptus oil or peppermint oil, application of soaked chamomile tea – bag or cotton swab soaked in olive oil, coconut oil or honey on the affected area. Regular intake of curds and warm salt water gargling will go a great way in relieving the allied pain.

 

 

 

How To Relieve Mouth Ulcers Naturally?

These oral lesions tend to get very irritating many a times. And this could be while eating, talking or even otherwise. Although they usually go away on their own in a few days’ time. Yer, the discomfort that they cause is just not worth it. That is why it is important and only natural for people to seek natural home remedies for relieving mouth ulcers.

 

 

  1. Clove Or Lavang

Gently chewing on clove buds is a simple yet extremely effective trick. The clove juice interacts with the ulcers and allows them to heal, all by itself and at the earliest.

 

 

 

2. Coconut Milk

Using coconut milk, for rinsing your mouth three to four times a day also goes a long way in relieving us of the discomfort being caused by the oral lesions. You can also mix some honey in the coconut milk and apply this solution on to the affected area.

 

 

 

 

3. Honey

Honey has some amazing anti-microbial properties which allow the ulcers to heal sooner. Besides, the moisture content in honey prevents our mouth from dehydrating or going absolutely dry, which otherwise promotes the growth of those ulcers.

 

 

 

4. Turmeric

For quick and evident result, you could either apply some honey directly onto the ulcer, or mix it with some turmeric to form a paste, and apply it. Taking approx. one-fourth tea spoon of turmeric for every one spoon of honey works just fine.

 

 

 

5. Coconut

Coconut, whether used as oil, beverage or simply for chewing as it is could work as an incredible remedy for curing mouth ulcers.

 

 

 

6. Balanced Diet

Besides trying these home remedies for oral lesions, make sure that you are eating right, and that your diet remains well-balanced. This is because a deficiency of nutrients such as iron, vitamin B complex, etc. are some of the major triggers of oral lesions.
