Life

We are not eternal, are we? The life bestowed upon us by the Almighty has both a perimeter as well as purpose. Our breaths are measured and our days are slowly advancing towards the ultimate. Yet, we remain confounded.

But Where Is Freedom?

This is because we are only trying to be progressing towards escape. But where is the freedom and from whom are we trying to seize it.

Recently, a stray dog living in our neighborhood had given birth to nine small puppies. And as the mother dog tried to spur life in her offspring, within less period of time, three of her puppies had passed away. Well acquainted with their playful presence, this has been rather afflicting for us as well as the kids. Finally, my son mustered courage (in between his sobs) to ask me, why did the puppies have to die.

Life And Death

I told him the, that our life and death is in God’s hands. It is limited and we have no control over this reality than to accept it. But then, his question was – If these little dogs had to die so soon in their life, then why were they given a life at all? I could not answer him then about the doings and purpose of a dog’s life, but could make him understand that we as human’s surely are the luckiest ones who have been bestowed with life as well as the power to understand and redeem the basic purpose of human life.

Life Is To Be Lived

I’m not sure that at his tender age he could understand. But after that incident it has been perturbing me that as days go by are we passing time, or is it that we are rather passing our life! Simply killing time is incredibly erroneous deed that we could be experiencing unknowingly in our day to day life. Whereas, it is actually needed that life is lived in days, if not in minutes and moments.

Passing Time Or Passing Life?

On the other hand, it is obvious that we tend to be ceasing time, this may be knowingly or unknowingly. All this has plainly become part and parcel of our everyday lifestyle. It is so much needed that we value every passing day, and this calls for contemplation that our vocation is only running short. Give it a thought – Are we simply passing time or actually passing life?
