Are you ready to die? Weird as much this question might seem, it calls for serious contemplation. This is the most tangible reality which we just cannot ignore. This veracity might take us unawares after many years, after some years, in a period of some days, just tomorrow or right in the next moment. There is no escape and we all know this well and good. In some way or the other we are all prepared.

Death Induces Fear

Howsoever strong or carefree we might seem to be addressing this particular question about facing the qualm of death, there are uncertainties and fears nestled in our subconscious minds. This may be related to the material possessions which we have gathered at the cost of our blood and sweat, no doubt. It was never easy. So as to accrue altogether the houses, properties, jewellery, bank balance et al we had to put in our complete vitalities, mental and physical effort and sure enough it had taken the toll of our lifelong labour. But again, we have to leave it all.. sooner or later all will be lost.

Separation is Inevitable

The other most common anxiety is to be separated from kith and kin. But we all also know this that no relation goes along. Is it your parents, they will leave you. Is it your children, you would leave them. Or is it departing from your spouse that worries you, it may be either ways. Does this mean we must all be fearless to welcome death with open arms? Yes, we have no choice. And whatsoever the name that you hold in the world today, or whatnot your relations could be fondly calling you, this is only for the time being. Sooner or later all the names, your name and mine, would dissolve into one single name – ‘Body’.

Reasonable Apprehension is Necessary

But one thought of despondency as leave-taking the human life needs to be acknowledged by each one of us. Have we been able to discover the very purpose for what we had been gifted with the human life. There is no surety that we would be getting this golden chance ever again. Have we actually lived to His expectations, or have we simply passed our time on the planet? Could we, even for minimal moments, reach out to our own-self and connect with Him, or rather we simply remained heedless to His communication owing to the boisterous circumstances of life. Also, could we truly transform our life, or simply remained mute onlooker to all that has been preached in His solemn messages.

The Final Take

There is a story based on Aesop fable. Once there was a bug that was enjoying the ride on the back of a bull, with the bull being unaware about the same. After a while, when the bug decided to leave, the bull noticed him and simply inquired about his whereabouts. The bug was pleased and told the bull that it had been present right there for the last some time. He also offered to stay back, just in case the bull wanted his company. But to this the bull replied ‘I had no idea of your presence until now, then why should I mind you leaving?’ The same goes with us. We might be considering ourselves to be so very imperative racing the path of life (as the bug riding the bull), but life may not consider us to be so. It is all matter of time, but the entire significance of the human birth that we have savored would only be decided on the day of judgment. Think it twice – Are you are ready for the final take?
