Ayurveda strongly believes that Imbalance in the Dosha causes disease. The three doshas viz. vata, pitta, and kapha or the air, fire and phlegm body humors get easily influenced by our everyday diet and lifestyle, wherein the doshas lose their equilibrium. They tend to either decrease or increase in the body and this makes them to result in forming of a disease. Kapha dosha, or the phlegm body humor results in production of twenty types of maladies. Imbalance in Kapha dosha heaviness, lethargy, excessive mucous production, paleness of the skin, nausea, indigestion and loss of appetite. There are 5 sub-doshas of Kapha dosha which when imbalanced, can further lead to ailments –

Kledaka Kapha Imbalance – Indigestion and loss of appetite

Bodhaka Kapha Imbalance – Affects sense of taste

Tarpaka Kapha Imbalance – Loss of memory and affects senses
