Ajwain Water Recipe – Oma Water For Babies & Kids

 

 

 

Also known as Carom seeds or Oma, Ajwain is an ancient Indian herb that is popular for various culinary and curative reasons. This kitchen staple happens to be a nutrient powerhouse, as it contains fat, fibre, minerals, proteins and sugar. Recipe – Oma Water

  • Take one-fourth teaspoon Oma seeds and crush them.
  • Now take a pan and fry the Ajwain dry on low flame.
  • Once you feel aroma is coming from the pan add ½ cup of water.
  • Cook it to medium flame for about 10 minutes till the water is half.
  • Filter it through a strainer.

Just put it in a small clean cloth and make a small potli (bundle). Slightly warm this and gently keep and compress it on the child’s chest or stomach area where you feel baby is congested. This could provide relief to the baby in no time.

  • Consuming ajwain water by babies early morning with luke-warm water has shown amazing health benefits in regards to digestion abilities, clearer stools and a better metabolism.
  • Jaggery & Ajwain mixture helps soothe a longing cough and expels phlegm.
  • Using warm stir fried ajwain in oil massage is as well good for the babies and small children.

 

How to Consume Ajwain

It is completely safe for babies above the age of 7 to 8 months to consume ajwain water, with 1 to 2 teaspoon of ajwain seeds boiled or soaked in water overnight. Initially, giving 1 to 2 teaspoons should suffice, and you can increase the amount with time. Adding honey or some jaggery to the water makes it delicious. As the small children age, we can start introducing them to ajwain roti as well.

Ajwain water is also extremely beneficial for adults. It is a natural and effective weight loss remedy, and we can also add some honey to the water to increase the benefits.
