According to Ayurveda our hair consists of Keratin, which is derived from the Asthi dhatu or the bone tissue. Dosha imbalance, particularly vitiation of Pitta dosha or the fire body humor is believed to be the main reason for baldness and hair loss. Ayurvedic therapies for hair loss which focus on overall holistic well-being offer several significant treatments for overcoming all kinds of hair loss. When Pitta dosha imbalance is resulting into untimely hair loss, some Pitta balancing herbs (E.g. Shatavari or Asparagus) and vegetables which improve the quality of Asthi dhathu (E.g. Bitter vegetables) are believed to be effective in treating hair fall.
