Want Strong And Healthy Hair? Follow These Hair Care Tips!

Growing and maintaining healthy locks is considered a sign of good overall health, and it corresponds to a good sense of fashion, no matter which gender you belong to. Nobody likes hair woes such as dandruff, dryness, breakage, split-ends or an abnormal hair-fall, and whether your type is long and lustrous, or short but shiny, we here have it covered for you! Read on, and see how you can also achieve strong, healthy hair by following some simple, DIY steps!

Eat Wise

In order to get those strong, healthy tresses, it is important to make some healthy eating choices in your everyday life. Make sure you eat a good, balanced diet, and boost the same with nutritional supplements such as iron, zinc, magnesium and calcium. Include sufficient iron in your diet, since any deficiency of this particular nutrient can lead to hair fall. Also, a diet that is good on protein, such as eggs, pulses, soybean and dairy products is good for the overall health of our hair. Evade fried and processed foods, as far as possible. And while you’re at it, consume a whole lot of water i.e. about 8-10 glasses per day.

Make Sure To Massage

Just as massage is good for our body, it is believed to be even better for the health of our hair. Gently massage your hair and scalp using oil such as coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, etc. If possible, warm the oil a little, for better results. Leave it on for at least half an hour, before you wash it off using a rather mild shampoo. This traditional yet extremely effective technique leads to an increased blood circulation in our scalp, conditions it, and therefore, promotes a healthy hair growth. Massaging also helps keep your hair to be naturally moisturized, since dry hair tend to fall more often. Moreover, regular massage also helps us in relieving stress.

Say NO To Stress

For the sake of healthy hair, it is important to relax and keep as far away from stress as possible. Don’t let the pressure at work or any kind of tension at home, let you down and affect your health. Prolonged stress can seriously affect even the health of your hair. Therefore, if the symptoms appear, try to zing-out of it and distract yourself with fun, engaging things in life. Go out in fresh air, participate in outdoor physical activities, catch up fun hobbies and try to socialize with like-minded people around you. Try indulging in meditation and yoga in order to keep stress and anxiety at bay. Also, make sure you get your beauty sleep of about 6-7 hours a day, undisturbed.

Prevention From Pollution

While it is important to prevent your hair from direct exposure to harmful pollutants and dirt in the air, it is also recommended to refrain from exposing them to heat and direct sunlight for too long. The strong UV rays can lead to premature greying of our hair, and even damage them over a period of time. This can even cause unhealthy drying, and make our scalp more prone to infections.  If absolutely unavoidable, make sure you cover the direct exposure, using an umbrella, a hat, or even a nice long dupatta.

Note These Simple, Everyday Tips

  • Be gentle with your hair, whether it is while massaging, shampooing, drying or regular brushing.
  • Do not shampoo your hair too often, since it rinses away the natural oils from your scalp, thus rendering your hair brittle and dandruff prone.
  • Use a wide toothed comb while brushing your hair, and no matter what you do, do not pull on them too much.
  • Do NOT comb your hair while they are wet still. Also, avoid combing your hair way too frequently, since that can result in hair fall and even cause split ends.
  • It is recommended to get the ends of your tresses trimmed every 2-3 months, in order to get rid of the stubborn split ends and promote a healthy hair growth.
