Tips for Kapha Personality Dosha – Balance for Kapha Type

Are you a Kapha type or type K personality? Here is how to identify people with the Kapha personality type?

If you are the slow and steady, poised sort of person then you are a Type – K personality or an individual with Kapha dosha according to Ayurveda. Anyone with this nature or Prakriti is considered to be the best among the three types of individuals prescribed by Ayurveda – Vata, Pitta or Kapha.

Kapha Type – Basic Nature and Constitution

People with Kapha dosha usually have a proportionate body. There is an aura of endurance, strength and stability about their physicality. Type – K people gain weight easily. Their skin is soft, smooth, supple and particularly greasy and glowing. The hair texture is slightly greasy but thick, maybe curly and distinctively dark-colored. They tend to be slow and calm eaters and thus normally stay clear of digestive afflictions, although digestion of a Kapha person is apparently slow.

By nature, they remain calm and steady, and don’t get excited or irritated easily. Their intelligence levels are well-developed but they generally take more time in coming to conclusions. The Kapha-type people hold high morals of respect, trust, equality and have a giving nature. They have a good capacity to tolerate pain and fatigue, and do not complain easily. Type K people are likely to have a pleasant voice with a deep pitch.

The dreams of people with kapha dosha are typically of waterfalls, large lakes, swans, clouds, flowers and birds. Due to the kapha dosha, Type – K people enjoy a long and stable life with less incidence of illness. Their body is usually well-built and they exude good health. Their eyes are large, shiny and reveal happiness. Their walk is stable and steady like their personality. They are never in a hurry owing to the slow nature of the kapha.

Kapha Type – Basic Temperament

Type K persons tend to be pious, prudish, truthful and grateful by nature and bear a fine moral character. They are not impulsive. They think about pros and cons before performing any action, and make decisions with wisdom.

Kapha dosha type individuals don’t get angry or grieve easily. But they also tend to hold on to grief and anguish. They are likely to be possessive and attached. The kapha dosha also makes them sedentary, inert and sluggish.

Kapha Type – Self Care

  • Kapha imbalance needs more grave lines of self handling. This is because the Kapha individual has a propensity to be more static and stubborn with his likes and tastes.
  • The stubborn Kapha is rather tricky to treat. This is mainly because of the inert trait of the earth element that this humor imbibes. Hence all intricate activities and potent stimulating diet is meant for the phlegm humor types.
  • The three Rasas (tastes) that are pungent, bitter and astringent are recommended to alleviate phlegm. Moreover, as against the basic properties of the phlegm humor, a Kapha person’s food should be somehow rough, light, potent and hot. Most of the stimulating spices and condiments are favorable.
  • All sorts of physical work where the stored energy is used up is favorable for the TYPE – K personality
  • Ayurveda advocates for Kapha people to undertake optimal exercise and yoga, long brisk walks, Pranayaam, hard sports like swimming, jogging, cycling, climbing etc that would help to use up needlessly conserved energy.
  • Meditation is also a necessity for Kapha person, as is for the Vata and TYPE – P. But it has to be consciously made sure that the posture remains erect and the Kapha person does not go into a nap.
  • So as to balance Kapha, the ancient text has approved following the regimen and daily routine as need to be done during the spring season.
