Why Mud is Usable?
Mud or the Earth is one of the five fundamental building blocks of the entire universe and natural existence. The other four are sky, air, fire and water. This means that Earth forms part of our physical body. And therefore we naturally find proximity with this element.

Healing Properties of Mud 

 

Naturopathy believes that mud is soothing and cooling by nature. Also, mud bears natural anti – toxic and magnetic properties. This makes the element to be useful in relieving body heat as in many skin ailments and is cleansing and energizing for the body systems.
 
Essence of Mud Therapy
Since times immemorial mud therapy is widely acknowledged and acceptable mode of natural healing. This attributes to the basic property of mud to be anti toxic and purifying. It is believed that whether the ailment is inside the body, or even if it is superficial; mud alone has the advantage of sucking the venom and the entrenched heat from the malady. This is because mud therapy works wonders in eradicating the ailment from its roots.

 

Precautions with Mud Therapy
  • Mud that is being used needs to be is at first The mud that is being used for the therapy needs to be uncontaminated and taken from approx. 3 to 4 feet depth from the surface of the earth. Prior to use, mud needs to be cleaned and filtered and kept immersed in water for at least 12 hours.
  • There should be no contamination of stone pieces or chemical manures etc. in the mud.
  • It is advisable that the mud should be dried, powdered and sieved before hand to separate stones, grass particles and other impurities.
  • Mud pack is advised to be applied on the body only for 20 to 30 minutes approximately.
  • When the mud pack is applied onto the sensitive part of the body like the eyes, it has to be taken heed that the mud does not enter the eyes as this may cause irritation and watering of the eyes.
  • Also, it is suggested that the mud pack once used should not be re-used.
  • When the mud pack is applied in cold weather, you would need to place a blanket over the mud pack and cover the body as well.
